Counoise is normally part of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's 13 grape blend, so unusual in the New World. For a 19 year old wine it's remarkably fresh with cooked raspberry and spice aromas. Intensely sweet Port-like fruitiness up front, Maury-like, filled out with viscous alcoholic glycerine with lowish tannins and acidity. Definitely winter warmer material. At its peak now. 16.5/20 Tasted 3/25
