Kuster late harvested Sauvignon Blanc 2019 15% An experimental barrel sample meant for blending with fruitier styles or..? This super ripe, late harvested Sauvignon was barrel fermented in old Bordeaux barriques. A spirit dominated nose suggests ripeness levels have blown Sauvignon away from herbal notes into neutral minerality. Alcohol permeates textures, adding a thick, slick, viscous, mouthfeel, while leaving oak tannins to underpin structure where acidity has disappeared. Bone dry, it finishes finer than expected. Interesting wine in its own right and surprising style for such a cool climate.
Kuster Sauvignon Blanc 2008 bone dry, 12% Still bright yellow at 12 Years age. Smells of freshly dried straw and touch of diesel aromas. Finely viscous in the mouth, fresher than expected with fine, balanced acidity. 17/20
