Located on inland slopes above Slovenia’s Istrian coast, Klet Bric commands stunning views of the Austrian Alps, Slovenia’s highest mountain and, on a clear day, Venice can be seen glowing across the sea.
The estate was founded on wild, virgin land in 1997, with vineyards and a striking winery following soon after. The latter, designed by an award winning Slovenian architect in 2000, is a symphony of stone, wood and glass. The vineyards were farmed organically for three years, with certification approved in 2020.
Wines are a mix of traditional Slovenian techniques and trendy natural wine styles. Terroir is respected and each wine appears to follow the rise and fall of seasonal variation accurately. There is some maturation in 2,500 ltr Slovenian ovals, some use of minimal sulphuring and some whites can see extended skin contact.
All techniques have been put to good use here.
