Wonderful… Kras cooperative has something of a rare thing in Slovenia -- a woman winemaker! Slovenia is far behind the world’s wine culture in terms of women winemakers so this is a very good thing. More please.

VinaKras sources grapes from around 100 hectares, half of which are owned by the coop in three large blocks. Additional grapes are supplied from the 80 coop members family plots. Vineyards are located at 300 metres inland from the Mediterranean on gentle slopes within sight of the pre-Alps. Climate is caught between the Trieste Gulf generating warm winds and strong continental cooling influence from the mountains.

The main focus of production is on Malvasia, Teran (Refosco) and the area’s own autochthonous grape, Vitosvska, is a local variant of Rebula.
