Casa de Santar Reseva 2008 14% This Touriga, Roriz and Alfrocheiro blend displays a complex mix of spice, mocca, savoruy red fruits and hints of dried and fresh herbs on the nose. Smooth and highly polished textures contain a mix of red and black fruit flavors, all finished off with very fine tannins. It has excellent ageing potential.

Casa Santar Branco 2010 This high volume mixture of 50% Encruzado (with Bical and Cerceal) is a crisply clean, well focused wine with subtle peach aromas. Sharply priced at 3-4eu

Casa Santar Contessa 2010 A similar blend to Contador it differs with just 50% oak fermentation and less lees stirring. Consequently it’s more linear, crisper and mineral in style. Great wine and beautifully focused, it needs time to reveal its best and should age for decades. 25eu from Santar’s shop.

Conde de Santar 2008 14.5% The result of low yields and tiny production, this blend of Touriga, Alfrocheiro and Tinta Cao offers broad, complex, floral and red fruit aromas and flavors delivered through an ultra-smooth, fine, elegant palate, with fine tannins and a very long and juicy finish.

Paco do Cunhas de Santar Nature 2009 13.5% Clean, finely honed, with a razer sharp focus, this naturally fermented, unoaked, organically produced red is a steal at 4-5 eu. Aromas offer savoury, leather notes over red fruit characters, textures are silky, laced with juicy black cherry fruits and firm, but fine, tannins.

Paco dos Cunhas de Santar Vinha do Contador 2010 14% A blend of 50% Encruzado, 25% Bical & 25% Cerceal, Santar’s top white is produced in 100% new French, low toast, oak and treated to six months of lees stirring (battonage). Hinting aromatically of nuts cashews and vanilla and subtle quince, similar flavors to aroma through a tight linear style with oak tannins on the finish. Quinta da Cabriz Bruto 2010 This sparkling blend of equal parts Arinto and Encruzado spends 12 months on lees. Clean, fresh, and elegant, with hints aloe vera aromatics it ends with a fine crisp finish. 7eu locally.

Quinta da Cabriz Reserva 2008 This is a benchmark Dao blend of Touriga, Roriz and Alfrocheiro is drunk throughout Portugal. Clean, fresh and nicely fruited with well focused, red cherry fruits, tart red cherry acidity and a degree of elegance. Priced around 7-8eu.
